I am a graphic designer in sunny Orange County, California. My focus in graphic design is visual identity in a retail environment. I enjoy working to solve small and large business problems with visual design. When designing with the end user viewpoint mind, I design a service or a product that broadens the end user base over multiple consumer groups. With my sales experience in large department stores, I understand how important it is to design a visual identity that is unforgettable. Historic branding or top of the line product quality is essential to stand out in the world today.
Before being a graphic designer, I studied traditional fine arts mediums for many years. In the fine art field, I was blessed to have been able to have Disney animator, Bruce McIntyre as a mentor. One of the most important things I learned from him is the importance of sharing the knowledge of drawing/design. Paving forward the future of art and graphic design in our community is one of the cornerstones of what drives me as a designer.
The use of bright colors in works like Edgar Degas's pastels and in Andy Warhol's pop art portraits is inspiring. Color is so important in graphic design because it can capture the attention of our subconscious and make permanent memories in our mind. Color or the lack of color is important in my design.
When asked to describe my design style, I would say it’s a colorful mix of, modern design with just a touch of iconic vintage flair, Font pairing of a classic serif typeface with a modern sans serif typeface is common to see in my work. I consider my designs to be forward thinking taking into account current typography trends as well as the design market. But without forgetting the importance of timeless quality and customer service value.
